¿Qué significa ser palestino e israelí al mismo tiempo, estar cargado del sufrimiento palestino y llevar pasaporte israelí? Éste es el dilema que raramente se entiende por alguien que no sea el millón y medio de ciudadanos que intentan día a día encontrar respuesta a preguntas incontestables. A menudo ignorados por el mundo árabe y la comunidad internacional, e incluso tachados de inexistentes, el documental sigue el viaje durante sesenta y dos años desde la creación de Israel. Explora un tema cada vez más volátil, especialmente con la recién propuesta del gobierno israelí de una ley que fuerza a la población no judía a jurar lealtad a un estado judío. Una propuesta que lanza interrogantes sobre el futuro de los originarios propietarios de esa tierra, que viven dentro de Israel y sufren discriminación diaria en todos los aspectos de la vida. La directora, Rawan el Damen realiza una investigación con la ayuda de cincuenta entrevistados, todos ellos palestinos israelíes de distintas ciudades y pueblos.
What does it mean to be Palestinian and Israeli at the same time, to be burdened by the Palestinian suffering and carry an Israeli passport? This is a dilemma that is rarely understood by anyone apart from the one and half million citizens trying everyday to find answers to unanswerable questions. Often ignored by the Arab world and the international community, and even deemed inexistent, the documentary follows their journey through sixty two years since the establishment of Israel. A journey filled with suppression, eighteen years of military rule, daily struggles and bloodshed. It explores an increasingly volatile issue, especially given the recent proposition by the Israeli government of a law forcing non-Jews to swear an oath of loyalty to a Jewish state. A proposition that raises question marks about the future of the land’s original owners who live inside Israel and undergo daily discrimination in all aspects of life. The director, Rawan al Damen, carries out an investigation with the help of fifty interviewees all of whom are Israeli Palestinians from different cities and villages.
