Vivir con el rey David no es divertido. Si no, preguntad a los habitantes de Silwan, una aldea palestina a las afueras de las murallas de la ciudad vieja de Jerusalén. Desde que comenzaron las primeras excavaciones a mediados del siglo XIX, los arqueólogos han acudido a esta pintoresca aldea, pala en mano, en busca de la legendaria ciudad bíblica del rey David. Pero en los últimos diez años, esta obsesión por las antigüedades es un riesgo que arruina las vidas de los que ahí viven con las constantes amenazas de las demoliciones que ciernen sobre sus hogares. ¿Acaso el pasado es más importante que el presente? ¿O hay algo más siniestro que un amor inocente por la historia escondida entre las piedras?
Living with King David is no fun. Just ask the people of Silwan, a Palestinian village just outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. Since the first excavations began in the mid 19th century, archaeologists have come to this picturesque village, spade in hand, hunting for the legendary biblical city of King David. But in the last ten years, this obsession with antiquities risks ruining the lives of the people who live here as a constant threat of demolition hovers over their homes. Is the past more important than the present? Or is there another agenda – something more sinister than an innocent love of history – hidden amongst the stones?
