Tras la Operación Escudo Defensivo en 2002, intervención militar israelí que golpeó zonas civiles de Cisjordania, grupos de derechos humanos acusaron a Israel de crímenes de guerra. La ONU intentó infructuosamente que una comisión de investigación visitara la escena. La ciudad de Yenín fue una de las más afectadas. Los testimonios de algunos de sus habitantes de entonces nos permiten recuperar la crudeza del momento. Censurado en Israel durante dos años tras su estreno, Mohammad Bakri lo dedicó a su coproductor, Iyad Samudi, asesinado tras la filmación.

Following Operation Defensive Shield in 2002, the Israeli military attack on civilian areas of the West Bank, human rights groups accused Israel of committing war crimes. The UN unsuccessfully tried to have an investigation commission visit the scene. The city of Jenin was one of the hardest hit. The accounts of some of the residents at that time give us a chance to recall the rawness of that moment. Banned in Israel for two years after its release, this work by Mohammad Bakri was dedicated to its co-producer, Iyad Samudi, who was assassinated after the filming was completed.
