Historia visual de los famosos cítricos procedentes de Palestina, conocidos mundialmente durante siglos como “naranjas Jaffa”. La historia de la marca Jaffa es la historia de esta tierra. En un análisis sobre la representación visual de esta marca, Sivan reflexiona acerca de las fantasías occidentales sobre Oriente, la Tierra Santa y el Estado de Israel. Describe la codicia colonial, los procesos de destrucción, nacionalización y rechazo, y desvela la historia de lo que una vez fue un símbolo y una industria comunes para árabes y judíos en Palestina.

The visual history of the famous citrus fruit originating from Palestine and known worldwide for centuries as “Jaffa oranges”. The history of the Jaffa brand is the history of this land. In his analysis of the visual representation of this brand, Sivan reflects on Western fantasies of “the Orient”, the “Holy land” and the state of Israel. It describes the colonial covetousness, the processes of obliteration, nationalization and repudiation, and unveils the story of what was once both a common symbol and a common industry to Arabs and Jews in Palestine.
